A mountain that stretches mightily from north to south
A dragon is lying down
Azaleas in March and royal azaleas in May
They follow the routes of the Minjabong Peak, Sasumbawi Rock and Trainbawi Rock
Another name of Waryongsan Mt. Guguyeonhwabong (99 lotus-flower hills)
In May, the whole mountain is covered with crimson color!
In May, deep pink royal azaleas cover the entire mountain along with
various strangely shaped rock formations,
creating a beautiful scenery that makes you feel like you are in Shangri-La
reputed as a place where Taoist hermits live.
Waryongsan Mt. is also referred to as Guguyeonhwabong because it is formed of ninety-nine high and low hills.
Its name, Waryongsan Mt.,
derived from its shape that resembles a giant dragon lying down when viewed from the sky.
Although the name Waryongsan Mt. due to its shape of an enormous dragon
lying down is also given to the Waryongsan Mt.
in Andong, Gyeongbuk, the appearance of Waryongsan Mt. in Sacheon
is incomparable in terms of the height and
majesty of the mountainous features to that in Andong.
Waryongsan Mt. is 801.4m high with Hallyeohaesang National Park situated in the south
and its main ridge circling around the Waryong Village is surrounded by rock peaks.
If you climb to Minjae Peak, the summit of the mountain, you can see the large and
small islands as well as the blue waters of the Hallyeosudo and South Sea.
In the Waryonggol Valley in the southern part of the mountain, there are Waryongsa Temple,
Baekcheonsa Temple, Baekryongsa Temple and Jeokseonsa Temple (temple ruins),
etc., which are said to be related to the ascension of Hyeonjong as a King of Goryeo Dynasty.
