Origin of Bito Island
A small island in Seopo-myeon, Sacheon City, Bito Island
Named Bito Island because of its shape resembling a rabbit flying, with "Nalbi" (meaning flying) as its main name and "Tokki-to" (meaning rabbit)
as its secondary name. However, it is also called Bito Island due to the legend of Byeoljubu, the turtle that went to find the rabbit's liver.

A paradise of natural relaxation where you can fully experience the beautiful sea, vast tidal flats, and refreshing nature.
In spring, cherry blossoms create a beautiful wave,
In summer, the blue sky and cool sea breeze blow,
In autumn, dazzling sunshine warmly shines,
In winter, it's a place to feel the sensibility of wintertime traveling and the fragrance of the season.
In ancient times, there was a rabbit couple living happily in the Bito Island area as their habitat.
One day, the rabbit husband was deceived by the sweet words of Byeoljubu, the turtle,
who had come to the seashore at Jahaeri with the dragon king's command from the South Sea.
He was persuaded to ride on the back of Byeoljubu and went to the dragon palace
Upon arriving at the dragon's palace, the rabbit found the Dragon King bedridden, and according to the doctor's prescription,
he learned that "except for rabbit liver, all medicine is ineffective."
Realizing that he would die, the rabbit cleverly lied, saying, "Unlike other animals, I have no liver now because,
on the 15th day of the lunar month, I hung my liver on a cinnamon tree during the moonlit night."
Following the dragon king's order to bring the liver, the rabbit rode Byeoljubu's back and escaped from the dragon palace.
However, mistakenly thinking the reflected image of Woldeungdo Island under the moonlight was the island itself,
the rabbit leaped off Byeoljubu's back, fell into the sea, and met his death, turning into Rabbit Island.
Meanwhile, Byeoljubu, unable to fulfill its responsibility and unable to return to the dragon's palace, became the Turtle Island.
The wife rabbit, who had sent her husband to the dragon's palace, waited day after day at the edge of the rock, looking at the South Sea,
until she died and became the Neck Island.
In addition, the residents here have called Woldeungdo since ancient times as the place where the rabbit returned after going to the dragon's palace,
meaning "to return" or "to come back," which is also called "Doldang Island."
